Questons for Numbers Chapter 12 - 11/25/2025
How humble did God say Moses was?
Why did Miriam keep her plague for 7 days?
Why do you think the people did not move on until the 7 days were up?

Numbers Chapter 11
Is there such a thing as too much anointing on one person? Hmm.
One of the study questions asked - Why do you think God didn't give the elders a fresh brand-new anointing? Why did He take some anointing from Moses to give to the new leaders?
Joan made a great point. She said something to the effect of: God took some of Moses' anointing from him and gave it to others so that he did not have to carry the burden of leadership alone. God shared Moses's anointing because Moses would no longer need all of that anointing.
In Numbers 11 we can see how the situation unfolded:
14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”
16 The Lord said to Moses: “Bring me seventy of Israel’s elders who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people. Have them come to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.
Our last blog in our series was about asking for help. In this blog we see an example of what happens after we ask for that help.
Moses asked for help,
God heard him,
God gave him help, and
Moses accepted that help.
I wonder how easy it was for Moses to adapt to that release of authority. Moses made the transition look easy and we as readers feel relieved for him.
But for some of us, it could take quite a bit of adjusting to allow others -especially those that are less experienced- to step up.
Insecurity and jealousy are always lurking nearby, and we have our 'concerns' about whether the new person can handle the responsibility.
They may not do things just the way we do it,
They may not say it just like we say it.
Or maybe they don't appreciate the same aspects of the job that we do.
And worst of all -maybe. They’ll even do the job better than us, making us look insufficient.
Sometimes, we can let our suspicion of an over-eager employee become so overwhelming that we're not ready to train them fully, which could set them up for failure. Sometimes that shows wisdom...but sometimes it’s our egos.
Or maybe it's a church role. You've always overseen making potato salad, sour cream pound cake and meatballs for the church functions for the last ten years - How dare the new lady bring her sour cream pound cake when clearly just asking her to bring mashed potatoes!
Or maybe it’s even in our own homes. You've always cut the grass. If you allow your child to do it, they won't get those lines just right.
Sharing authority can sometimes be difficult- but it is Biblical. We know this but can be blind to the fact that we don't do it in certain areas of our lives.
In fact, we can be contradictory. We can tend to get frustrated with those of us who have not mastered certain skills even though we are not willing to train or share the necessary knowledge. How can others become reliable when they haven't been provided with the opportunity or the patience from us to be trained.
Moses didn't fall into that trap. We see where he gladly shared his authority and not only does it allow others to learn and elevate their own skills, but it also left him able to pursue other things of value: time with God, family, and rest.
We must follow Moses' example. Don't be obsessed with an anointing that you think you are losing. As long as we focus on Him, look forward to what God has for you next.

Health goals
Pray and think about the goals that God has for your life. He has many, but one of the areas we concentrate on in Walk and Talk is our health. How do you think God wants us to care for ourselves? What steps are we taking to be the best person we can be?
See you Tuesday!!
