Questons for Numbers Chapter 11 - 11/18/2025

  1. Do you think that the Israelites were asking for too much?

  2. Why do you think God didn't give the elders a fresh annoiting? Why did He take from Moses to give to the rest?

  3. Why did God send a plague on His own people?

Recap from 11/1/2025

Numbers Chapter 10

There are many of us who are quiet sufferers. We go through life hitting speed bump after speed bump — problem after problem — and we absorb them as if nothing has happened.

We don’t complain because we feel God wouldn’t appreciate our “whining,” and besides, He surely has bigger problems to deal with.

We don’t share with others because they have their own burdens. Why add ours to theirs?

Then there’s the opposite type — the people who make a lot of noise. Any problem that comes their way will be heard by the nearest person, on repeat, until it’s resolved. And even after it’s resolved, the complaints continue, except now the focus is on all the trouble they had to endure. The cycle goes on until a bigger problem arrives to eclipse the original one.

Either way, I think Numbers 10:9–10 has something for us:

9 “When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.10 Also at your times of rejoicing…you are to sound the trumpets… and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”

God told the Israelites that if someone attacked them in their own land, they were to blow the trumpets — to make some noise — and God would hear and rescue them.

What does that mean for us?

It means we need to learn how to blow our trumpets when we need His help. Our battles may not be enemy armies, but they can come in the form of depression, a failing marriage, rebellious children, inconsiderate neighbors, failing health, or joblessness.

Our problems may feel overwhelming, but just as God gave the Israelites a way to call on Him, He gives us the same invitation.

For those of us who are silent sufferers — who act as if our problems are too small or too underwhelming for God — we should be sounding our trumpets.

What does that look like?

You may not own a literal trumpet (which I am sure God will be glad to hear), but you have a voice. Cry out to God. Call on Him aloud. Sing a song that expresses what your heart is going through. Pray honestly and vulnerably with the voice He gave you.

And for those who feel they’re “bothering” God with small problems, remember this truth: The things that alarm you now won’t alarm you later, because you will have practiced letting God strengthen you.

Potluck Tuesday and Christmas Wrapping Party

Potluck Tuesday was also a suggestion from last semester. Anyone interested in doing a Potluck once a month? Open to suggestions on an ideal day and time we can do this.

Christmas wrapping party! Save the date December 17th.

What is a wrapping party? It is where we can bring our personal Christmas gifts to wrap in a fun, food-filled, camaraderie-filled environment. Invite others whom you think may benefit. Don't have much to wrap, then prepare to help others. Wrapping paper and tape will be available. Please feel free to donate any wrapping materials if you feel led.

Health goals

Pray and think about the goals that God has for your life. He has many, but one of the areas we concentrate on in Walk and Talk is our health. How do you think God wants us to care for ourselves? What steps are we taking to be the best person we can be?

See you Tuesday!!
