Questons for Numbers Chapter 10 - 10/28/2025

  1. Why do you think God chose the trumpet to be used to assemble the Israelites?

  2. How can we use Moses' prayer in our own lives?

35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses said,

“Rise up, Lord!    May your enemies be scattered;    may your foes flee before you.”

36 Whenever it came to rest, he said,

“Return, Lord,    to the countless thousands of Israel.”

Numbers Chapter 9

For those who think living under God’s authority is boring, you haven’t read Numbers 9:15–23.

God designed a pillar that looked like a cloud by day and fire by night. Wherever that cloud settled, the Israelites had to pack up all their belongings and follow.

The pillar’s movement was unpredictable. The Israelites might stay in one place for a day, a month, or even a year before God instructed them to move again.

Why did they move in such an erratic way? I don’t know for sure — but my best guesses are:

  • God was keeping them safe from nearby enemies?

  • God was training them to be ready to move when He called?

  • Maybe both?

Throughout the Bible, those who got involved in God’s plans were often uprooted from their comfort zones or called to do things that seemed outrageous by human standards:

  • Moses returned to the land he had fled after killing a man — to demand that Pharaoh release God’s people. The audacity! (Exodus 4:19)

  • Noah built a massive boat on dry land when rain and floods didn’t even exist. Was he out of his mind?! (Genesis 6–7)

  • Abraham left his homeland for a destination God hadn’t revealed yet. His poor wife! Why tear her away from family?! (Genesis 12:1)

  • Sarah became pregnant well past her prime years. Impossible! (Genesis 12–16)

  • Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers. They did him so dirty! (Genesis 37–50)

  • The Israelites followed a pillar of cloud and fire for years. Look at those “weirdos” wandering in the desert!

So what does this have to do with us today?

Sometimes we feel alone on our journey with God. We wonder if we’re going in the right direction. It seems right, but it’s not what everyone else is doing — so it feels wrong. It’s hard to get settled. There’s no one to pattern ourselves after as we try to walk the path God has set for us.

But I can only imagine that Moses, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Joseph, and the Israelites all felt the same way at some point. And just like them, we must keep seeking God’s desire for our lives.

We have to look for the “pillars of fire and cloud” — the signs of His presence and direction — to guide us just as He guided His people in the wilderness.

Pray for His guidance.

Potluck Tuesday and Christmas Wrapping Party

Potluck Tuesday was also a suggestion from last semester. Anyone interested in doing a Potluck once a month? Open to suggestions on an ideal day and time we can do this.

Christmas wrapping party! Save the date December 17th.

What is a wrapping party? It is where we can bring our personal Christmas gifts to wrap in a fun, food-filled, camaraderie-filled environment. Invite others whom you think may benefit. Don't have much to wrap, then prepare to help others. Wrapping paper and tape will be available. Please feel free to donate any wrapping materials if you feel led.

Health goals

Pray and think about the goals that God has for your life. He has many, but one of the areas we concentrate on in Walk and Talk is our health. How do you think God wants us to care for ourselves? What steps are we taking to be the best person we can be?

See you Tuesday!!
