1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body | ![]() |
What does this passage mean to you?
When Jesus died on the cross He effectively made our bodies a place for God to dwell. Instead of dwelling in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night in order for His people to follow Him (Exodus 13:21), if invited, He can now dwell in our hearts.
We are the living vessels of the most high God.
He created each of us uniquely.
Each of us is well loved.
Have you ever used the phrase, 'It can't get any worse than this!" and then it does get worse?
Or have you ever appreciated something or someone after it was gone?
While they were present in your life they may have been a nuisance or someone you barely noticed existed. You may have even been confused about their usefulness. But once they were gone, you realized how big of an irreplaceable hole they left in your life.
I believe that is the way many of us feel about God. I know that sometimes it feels as if God is not even aware of us, that we are bumbling our way through life without His input or care or existence but if He were ever to leave- taking all the goodness in our lives away with Him -He would definitely be missed because there would be nothing to battle back the evil.
Focus on learning what He loves about us. Learn what He loves about the vessel that He has given us and work to see ourselves through His eyes.
Take a good look in the mirror. Think about all of your strengths, accomplishments, struggles, and shortcomings and realize just how unique you are. He accepts you just the way you are.
In fact, He already knows who we are! He is waiting for us to connect with Him so that He can introduce us to the best no matter where we are starting from.
It is never too late! Ask Him into your life. Tell Him that you know that Jesus died for our sins. This is that one gigantic step closer to Him. And once you do, be prepared to learn from your failures, celebrate your triumphs, and never stop learning about His beautiful heart.
As for your body. Keep on pushing!!
Walk and Talk Discussion notes:
What does 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 mean to you?
We had another great discussion! If you weren't able to join us, we did one lap in the cold then continued our workout within the church. Those stairs always put our legs to the test. Here is a summary of the thoughts that our fellow valient ladies shared during our walk.
Because the end of Genesis and the beginning of Exodus describes the meticulous and deliberate way that God wanted the Isrealites to build the temple that would allow Him to dwell with them, it is expected that our temples should be treated with the same respect.
Avoid sex outside of marriage 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
Be conscientious about the food we put in our bodies Philippians 3:18-19
Exercise to keep our mind and body healthy Proverbs 31:17
Be aware of where and why we are piercing our bodies Leviticus 19:28
Wear appropriate clothes that represent our faith well. Romans 13:14
Thank you ladies for sharing your thoughts ladies. Its not too late to add your thoughts! Send me a text or fill out the form to let me know your thoughts.
